blind spot

Nobody has the ears to hear

The strength to carry what I feel

No one ever looks up quite long enough

to help me sow something that’s real

Look me in the eyes, my dear

Prove to me I’m really here

Not a living ghost walking among the dead–

hidden messenger of all they fear

‘Cause I don’t want to live this way

Fall asleep to die the following day

While waiting for redemption to recall me,

these lips ran out of lovely little words to say

But can a leopard change its spots?

I surely used to know, but I forgot

Perhaps one day they’ll be freed from all their binding blindfolds,

but then again, perhaps not

There’s only one who hears me now

He can see me, though I’m not sure how

I prayerfully close these tear-rimmed eyes

as he gently swings me from life’s bough

His love for me shall never end

For now, He is my only friend

His warm embrace is the only place

I can just be free and never play pretend

So you can hear me out… or not

Choose to treasure the few gems I’ve got

If you ever decide to change your mind,

it is us you’ll find in your biggest blind spot
