Land Owner’s Daughter

How’s it feel to be born free?

Please sit down and humor me

“She’s got no chains, yet her legs won’t walk.”

“She’s got no gag, yet her lips won’t talk.”

Alone inside my cell of glass

I watch on as you all pass

Sustained by dreams of greener grass

and blurry views of The Ring of Brass

Dressed in a cocoon of tears

Stale loneliness hangs from my ears

The face you know— not quite sincere

Masks are all I’ve known since yesteryear

“She’s walked this life with her head down

Letting gravity misplace her crown.

Shh, my dear. Don’t make a sound.

The water’s nice… unless you drown.”

Now I reside within this hole

White Rabbit showed me where to go

Nothing’s mine except my soul

Love’s the only deed I hold

Love’s the only deed I hold
