A Conversation With Friends

Rain on the windowpane, autumn makes me feel to blame

Soft cashmere sweaters, I’ll drain my eyes til I feel better

Warm and sweet pumpkin spice, put this seizing heart on ice

Cuz I doubt I’ll need it where I’m goin’.

Can’t you feel that cold wind, how it’s blowin’?

Pretty little woolen coat, lumps a’risin in my throat

Freshly baked chocolate cookies, this ain’t no game for timid rookies

Withered leaves that crunch and snap, watch Dream and Hope til I get back

Cuz I doubt I’ll need them where I’m travelin’.

Can’t you see my woes, how they’re rattlin’?

Squeaky polished rubber rain boots, I believe I’ve got a screw loose

Forty some odd days til winter, you pierce and sting much like a splinter

Hazelnut flavored coffee, you need me, but hardly want me

But none of this will matter where I’m roamin’

Can’t you hear the loneliness?—it’s finally moanin’.
